Architecture Licensure Exam Requirements (2023 Updated)
Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) Architecture Licensure Exams (ALE)
The exam will take place on Saturday, December 2, 2023. The University of Santo Tomas is the top-performing school in the 2022 architect licensure examination with 87.94% passing percentage. The runner-up Ateneo de Davao University is with 82.69% passing percentage.

In order to take the Architecture Licensure Exam (ALE) in the Philippines in 2023, applicants must meet certain requirements. These include a valid Filipino college diploma, a valid transcript of records, a valid birth certificate from the Philippine Statistics Authority, and a valid marriage contract. Applicants must also have experience in the field of architecture and must have fulfilled the required number of hours of practice, which is currently set at 1,500 hours. In addition, applicants must pass the written and oral examinations administered by the Professional Regulation Commission.
These are the following requirements for those who are planning to take the ALE:
BS ARCHITECTURE
o NSO / PSA Birth Certificate
o NSO / PSA Marriage Contract (for married female applicants)
o Transcript of Records with scanned picture and remarks “For Board Examination Purposes” (first-timers and repeaters)
o College Diploma (first timers)
o Professional Tax Receipt, IAPOA# of architect Mentor (first timers)
o Valid NBI Clearance (first-timers and repeaters)
o Payment of 900 pesos.
BS Architecture (Post Graduation with two (2) years of diversified training and experience)
o Logbook of Diversified experience
o Affidavit of Experience signed and sealed by a registered Architect with updated ID
o Master’s degree in architecture – one (1) year practical experience
o Affidavit of Experience signed and sealed by a registered Architect with updated ID
o Payment of 900 pesos.
The deadline for filing applications for the 2023 Architecture Licensure Exam (ALE) in the Philippines is Monday, February 6, 2023.

PRC offices are open for appointments under the current General Community Quarantine last May 18 and currently following a strict health implementation.
As for what to expect during test day itself, it will last for two days and will cover the following topics:
- History and Theory of Architecture
- Principles of Architectural Planning
- Structural Conceptualization
- Utilities Systems
- Building Materials
- Architectural Design and Planning
Exam takers must also have the following items with them:
- Calculator with Trigonometric Function, Logarithm
- A printed copy of Rules VII and VIII of the 2004 Revised IRR of Presidential Decree (PD) No. 1096 / 1977 National Building Code of the Philippines (Click Here)
- Architect Scales (English & Metric Scales)
- 30 x 60 and 45-Degree Triangles
- Protractors
- Pencils and Related Sketching Material
Other licensing tests, such as those for Civil Engineering and Chemical Engineering, may take place regularly as writing.
